Negotiation

Much of selling to production companies involves negotiation skills. The producer will be seeking to find a film location that will save his/her company the most money. When it comes to government – one is not really ‘negotiating” the offerings of the locale. It is more about “persuasion” than negotiating by stacking up the pros to convince the production to choose this jurisdiction over another. One has to be careful when it comes to providing “gifts.”  Most governments cannot make such offers as this can be seen as bribery. However, taking a producer to an establishment that offers the finest in local cuisine or local culture for a lunch meeting and directly exposing them to the benefits in the community is acceptable for any film community and advocacy organization.
